Emmerdale Spoilers: Lewis Kidnapped, Charity Breaks Down

Danger abounds in Emmerdale next week, as Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) finds himself held captive by a crazed criminal, Charity (Emma Atkins) breaks under the pressure of what happened to her, and Caleb Miligan (William Ash) finally solves the scam mystery.

Kylie (Pippa Fulton) reveals herself as Lewis’ kidnapper, threatening death unless his dad, Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), hands over ‘Penny’, something she holds incredibly dear. As Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) is forced to reveal Lewis’ true parentage to Ross Barton (Michael Parr), they set off on a mission to find Kev and save Lewis. Surely nothing will go wrong, right?

Charity’s mental health is shot to pieces following the disgusting assault Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) subjected her to, and with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) determined to help his wife with her ‘post natal depression’, an overwhelmed Charity flees, finding solace in a stranger. As Mack calls the police, will a guilty Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) reveal the truth?

With yet another week of disruptions thanks to the football, here’s your handy guide to what happens – and when – next week in the Dales.

Monday, June 22 – double episode

Ross is chilled to the bone when he receives a message from Lewis’ abductor, stating that if his dad doesn’t return ‘Penny’, he’ll be harmed. As he tries to hunt down Lewis’ adopted dad, Liam is forced to admit that Kev is his real dad. Kylie reveals herself as the kidnapper to Ross, deeming ‘Penny’ the most precious thing in the world and again, threatening Lewis’ safety should the exchange not be made.

Liam convinces Claudette to tell him where Kev is, and they trace him to a van from which he’s selling cakes. After Kev’s attitude results in he and Ross coming to blows, Kev reveals that ‘Penny’ is a diamond that he sold long ago. As Ross demands he buy it back, Kev conceals a diamond on a necklace.

Charity and Cain come to the mutual understanding that their propensity to lash out stems from internal pain, and while she pushes him to be open about his feelings to Moira and Liam, she keeps her own agony hidden. After admitting to Chas that he feels helpless in supporting Charity, Mack tries to talk to her, but she scarpers, dangerously close to a breakdown.

Elsewhere, Jai’s suspicions are raised when he spies Caleb and Billy scheming, while Caleb is being eaten up by his own theories over Jai and Kerry.

Tuesday, June 23

Charity stands on the edge of a lake, dangerously close to a breakdown, while Mack and the Dingles try to organise searches. As a stranger approaches Charity, she tries to touch her and is met with a punch for her troubles. Feeling safe, Charity considers finally telling the truth about what happened to her.

Mack, having summoned the police following Charity’s disappearance, asks a guilty Chas if she knows anything that could help.

Ross’ terror intensifies when Kylie sends him a scalpel-filled message, before she calls Kev, demanding the return of ‘Penny’ by the end of the day, while reminding him of her previous eight year prison stretch. As Kev’s story regarding continues to change, Ross knocks him out, informing Liam that they’ll be using Kev as an insurance policy.

Also, Lewis sweats when he asks Kylie if she plans to kill him, and she revels in his terror.
