Free London football tournament at Trellick Tower this weekend

The Last Stand, one of the UK's most exciting street football tournaments, returns this weekend at the historic Trellick Tower in West London. The finals take place on Sunday, June 28, and will see players compete in a 4v4 game. With the World Cup group stages nearly over, 'The Last Stand: Postcode to Passport' will showcase some of London's best talent for free.

Tournament Details

Tickets are free to watch the games, with teams from north, south, east, and west London all taking part for the chance to fly to New York and face the best teams in a World Cup-style street football showdown. The tournament is open to men's and women's teams aged 18-26, and takes football back to the streets, as the organisers and founder of The Last Stand intend.

Venue: Trellick Tower

Trellick Tower is one of London's most famous Brutalist buildings, built in 1972 by Erno Goldfinger to provide social housing in West London. The football cages at the base of the tower will serve as the venue, where founder Gundeep Anand aims to provide opportunities to people who never thought it was possible.

Founder's Vision

Gundeep Anand, founder of The Last Stand, said: "This campaign is a celebration of that culture and the people who make it what it is. The Last Stand has always been about giving players from overlooked spaces a platform and proving that where you come from does not limit where you can go."

He added: "The reaction from the community has been amazing, and seeing the breadth of submissions is exciting to say the least. We’ve seen a 70% increase in women's teams stepping up from the last tournament. This summer, we are taking London to New York. Two cities, two cultures and one game. That is what Postcode to Passport is all about."

Event Highlights

The Last Stand was founded in 2016 to showcase talent everywhere and that 'opportunity is not' limited. This 'Postcode to Passport' edition aims to give players a chance to win a flight to New York. A trailer, shot by budding director Brian Salcedo (who has worked with global artists such as WizKid), shows young kids playing football in a local cage in Homerton, East London, capturing the essence of the tournament.

There will also be live DJs, Nando's, prizes, giveaways, and special guests. The event is open to all but spaces will be limited. The Last Stand: Postcode to Passport takes place on Sunday, June 28, from 3pm to 8pm at Trellick Tower, Ladbroke Grove, W10 5NR.
