Guardiola Dismisses Man City Exit Talk as Wolves Chief Steps Down
Guardiola dismisses Man City exit speculation

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has moved to quash speculation over his immediate future, firmly stating his intention to see out his contract at the Etihad Stadium. The news comes on a day of significant Premier League developments, including a major boardroom change at struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Guardiola Commits to City Until 2027

Pep Guardiola has emphatically dismissed rumours of an imminent departure from Manchester City, declaring the subject closed. The 54-year-old's current deal runs until June 2027, but recent reports suggested the club were making contingency plans should he leave this summer.

"There are no discussions – end of the subject," Guardiola stated in a press conference. "I will not be eternally here, but I’ve said before I will not be here for ever. I have 18 months left and I am so delighted, happy and excited about the development of the team."

Having won 18 major trophies with City, Guardiola explained his motivation extends beyond silverware. He emphasised his focus on the "process" and the daily challenge of improvement, rather than being driven solely by the prospect of lifting trophies. City can temporarily go top of the Premier League with a win over West Ham on Saturday.

Wolves Executive Chair Jeff Shi Steps Aside

In a separate development, Wolves executive chair Jeff Shi has stepped down from his operational role at the club. The 48-year-old, who has faced criticism from supporters with the team bottom of the table and winless this season, will remain as chairman and CEO of the Fosun Sports Group.

He is replaced on an interim basis by Nathan Shi. In a statement, Jeff Shi said: "I took the keys to this chair with humility; today, I step aside with a heart full of gratitude. My seat may change, but my heart will still roar for this club."

Other Premier League Updates

Liverpool manager Arne Slot believes the club has "moved on" from the recent controversy surrounding Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward gave an explosive interview two weeks ago but returned to the squad as a substitute against Brighton. Slot hopes Salah's focus on the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt will allow the situation to cool further.

Arsenal's Mikel Arteta has backed striker Viktor Gyökeres to improve in the second half of the season, despite the £64m signing not scoring since his return from injury. Arteta cited a lack of pre-season and an injury setback as reasons for his adaptation period.

Meanwhile, West Ham manager David Moyes has claimed his former club undersold Declan Rice to Arsenal. Moyes believes the England midfielder, who moved for £105m in 2023, was actually worth £150m.

Bournemouth have suffered a significant blow with midfielder Tyler Adams ruled out for at least two months with a medial collateral ligament injury sustained against Manchester United.
