Kit Wilson: WrestleMania Match With Jelly Roll Was Canceled

British WWE superstar Kit Wilson has revealed that a potential WrestleMania 42 match against Grammy-winning singer Jelly Roll was a real possibility before being scrapped. The 31-year-old Londoner, who rose to fame as part of the tag team Pretty Deadly alongside fellow Brit Elton Prince, has been navigating a solo career after Prince suffered a serious neck injury.

Kit Wilson on His Brief Rivalry with Jelly Roll

Speaking exclusively to Metro in Las Vegas during WrestleMania week, Wilson discussed his brief storyline with Jelly Roll, which saw them face off on SmackDown earlier this year. He admitted that the rivalry could have culminated on the grandest stage. 'I mean, there was always a chance that it could have spilt over to WrestleMania. I think, obviously, right now he's quite busy with Cody [Rhodes] and Randy [Orton]. I love that Randy RKO'd him, thanks Randy,' he quipped, referencing Orton's involvement in the night one main event.

Jelly Roll's WWE Video Game Debut

Fans will soon be able to play out the match themselves when Jelly Roll joins the WWE 2K26 roster in July as part of the season 4 Ringside Pass premium track, which will also include legends Matt and Jeff Hardy, and AAA wrestler Lady Shani. However, Wilson hinted at 'unfinished business' beyond the video game world. 'I do think there's unfinished business there. You know, this Jelly Roll guy, I didn't realise how big of a superstar he was,' he admitted. 'Maybe I didn't realise how good he was in the ring. I gave him my time. He gave me his time. I think we've got some more time, I do, absolutely, but down the line.'

Jelly Roll's History in WWE

Jelly Roll has previous wrestling experience, having teamed with Randy Orton against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul at SummerSlam last year, before returning to the ring to face Wilson on March 27. With his video game debut approaching, Wilson had a message for Jelly Roll, who will be rated 80 in the game, six points higher than Wilson. 'You're toxic, Jelly,' he teased. 'You're toxic.'

Celebrity Involvement in WWE

Celebrity appearances are nothing new in WWE, and this year Lin-Manuel Miranda, a huge wrestling fan, appeared in the cold open for WrestleMania at Allegiant Stadium. Wilson and Prince have a history with the Hamilton creator, having handed him a script for their own musical during an episode of SmackDown in late 2024. 'It was massive for me. And I'm a big Lin fan. I really am. Me and my wife have seen Hamilton probably six times. Love it! Love all the other stuff he's done, even his songs in Moana,' Wilson raved. 'Fantastic, incredible, great – great Curb Your Enthusiasm episode from Lin. A big fan, so to hand in the script, for him to take a look at the script, him to give us notes, it's been a blessing.'

Status of Pretty Deadly: The Musical

Fans have yet to see anything from the supposed musical, with Pretty Deadly often promising a performance only to back out at the last minute. Wilson insists it was progressing before Prince's injury. 'Look, Pretty Deadly: The Musical was working behind the scenes. We were going, we were ready, it was coming to fruition. Elton, unfortunately, as we all know, is kind of suffering a little setback for the moment,' he explained. 'So we are on an indefinite hiatus for now – for now. This man's gotta get healthy first, then he can start working on his vocal cords. He had neck surgery, that's gonna damage the vocals. So, we got some time.' Wilson joked that 'Lin has been very kind' by taking 'a back seat' in the meantime. 'He's doing other things, he's got big projects, so we'll let him get on with that, and eventually, eventually we'll get there.'

Elton Prince's Recovery

Regarding Prince's recovery, Wilson remained tight-lipped. 'I've got no update for you. He is healing. Things are going well. It's just a long process, it really is,' he said. 'If you're looking percentage-wise or time-wise, he's still so early in that process. He's just kind of getting through it. He's dealing with it. He's doing good, he's keeping positive, but it's just long.'
