Resident Evil Requiem has reached another impressive sales milestone, and Capcom celebrated in delicious fashion. The survival horror sequel, already the fastest-selling game in the series, has now sold over seven million copies as of April 24, 2026. To mark the occasion, Capcom commissioned two giant cakes based on protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft.
Sales Milestone and Cake Celebration
Director Koshi Nakanishi shared the news on Instagram, revealing that Resident Evil Requiem surpassed six million units in March, less than a month after its February 27 launch. Now, with over seven million copies sold, the team threw a celebratory party featuring intricately designed cakes. The Leon cake features black icing and a hatchet biscuit topper, while the Grace cake is covered in white icing with blood-like decorations and a zombie hand emerging from the base tier. Each cake bears a message: 'Welcome to 7m Leon!' and a similar greeting for Grace.
The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley reportedly attended the bash, based on Nakanishi's Instagram Stories. A social media post from user Stealth confirmed the event, showing Nakanishi celebrating with the cakes.
Upcoming Content
Capcom plans to release more content for Resident Evil Requiem soon. A mini-game, expected to be The Mercenaries survival mode, will arrive in May. This mode, featured in Resident Evil 4 remake, tasks players with fighting escalating zombie hordes for points against a time limit, often allowing control of non-playable characters. Additionally, story DLC is in development, but Nakanishi stated in March that it will 'take some time,' potentially not arriving until 2027. Early rumors suggest Leon will be a central focus, though Ada Wong and Alyssa Ashcroft, Grace's mother, have also been rumored.
Industry Context
Resident Evil Requiem's success continues a strong trend for Capcom, which has seen the Resident Evil franchise thrive with recent releases. The game's rapid sales growth underscores its popularity among fans and critics alike.
