Fulham manager Marco Silva has delivered a cautiously optimistic update on the fitness of winger Harry Wilson following an injury scare during Monday night's Premier League victory.
Knock Sustained in Forest Victory
The 28-year-old Welsh international appeared to sustain a problem to his left knee during the second half of the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage. The incident occurred as Wilson attempted a challenge on Forest defender Neco Williams.
Fulham's medical staff were required to treat the player on the pitch. Wilson was able to continue briefly but was subsequently substituted, with Adama Traore taking his place. The only goal of the match came from a Raul Jimenez penalty in the first half, a result that lifts Silva's side to 13th in the table.
Silra's Post-Match Assessment
Addressing concerns after the final whistle, Silva moved to allay immediate fears regarding a serious issue. "It looks he's going to be okay," the Portuguese coach stated. "I think it was like a big knock there, it was not something that he twisted but now it's, of course, painful."
He emphasised that the club's medical team would conduct a full evaluation in the coming hours. "But let's see, tomorrow we have a session, we are going to assess the players from tonight and see how he's going to heal."
Race for Fitness Ahead of London Derby
All attention now turns to Fulham's next top-flight fixture, a London derby away to West Ham United on Friday, December 27. Wilson's availability for the trip to the London Stadium will hinge on the results of the assessment Silva mentioned.
The former Liverpool player has been a key creative outlet for Fulham this season, making his potential absence a significant concern. Supporters and fantasy football managers alike will be eagerly awaiting further news from the club's training ground as the Premier League schedule enters a busy festive period.
