The developers behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 have addressed speculation about their next project, and it seems Lord Of The Rings might be on the horizon. The Lord Of The Rings franchise has struggled in video games recently, with titles like Tales Of The Shire, Gollum, and Return To Moria failing to make an impact. However, rumors persist about future games, including a third-person action title from Crystal Dynamics and a project from Warhorse Studios, creators of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Warhorse Studios Responds to Rumors
During a Reddit Q&A, Warhorse community manager Tom Grey responded to a fan question about the rumored Lord Of The Rings game: 'Obviously we can't comment on future projects, at least not until we're in the future (but if you have a time machine, please show us!).' In another post, content director Ondřej Bittner was equally coy but confirmed their next game is an RPG. 'Voilá there is a response! But unfortunately not the one you hope for. We are hard at work on … something. I cannot disclose details but I can tell it is a huge, immersive RPG.'
Implications and Speculation
While not confirmation, the lack of denial suggests Warhorse might indeed be working on a Lord Of The Rings game. However, Bittner gave a similar response when asked about Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3, saying, 'There are plans in motion. Plans for immersive RPG. Hope that eases your mind.' Given the success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which sold over 5 million copies by February 2026, a sequel is also plausible. A Lord Of The Rings game from Warhorse, known for its immersive world and systems, is an enticing prospect.
- Warhorse Studios hints at an immersive RPG project, possibly Lord Of The Rings.
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has sold over 5 million copies, making a sequel likely.
- Rumors also suggest ports of older Lord Of The Rings games, like War In The North.
For now, fans will have to wait for official announcements. The gaming community remains eager for any news from Warhorse Studios.
