The Camden Youth League's Half-Term Cup delivered an exhilarating display of young football talent on Saturday, with London Futsal Stars and City of London FC emerging as the champions in their respective age groups. Held at the historic Coram's Fields in Bloomsbury, the tournament featured scores of teams competing for glory, including Active FC, Queen's Park, Panitas, FC Marylebone, London Thames, MGA Lions, Vale FC, and Universal FC.
Under-8s Victory for London Futsal Stars
London Futsal Stars secured the Under-8s title, showcasing impressive skill and teamwork throughout the competition. Founder Shaz Anwar, a resident of Highbury, expressed his pride in the squad's progress, noting that the players are not only developing their football abilities but also forming strong friendships. He praised the event organizers for hosting a well-run and enjoyable tournament that provided a fun and fair environment for local clubs.
City of London FC Dominates Under-10s Category
In the Under-10s division, City of London FC demonstrated remarkable prowess, remaining unbeaten all day and conceding just one goal. Their journey culminated in a dramatic final victory secured on penalties, capping off an unforgettable afternoon for the players and supporters alike.
Organizational Support and Future Events
The Half-Term Cup was organized by London Grassroots Sports, which also manages the weekly Camden Youth League at Coram's Fields. Financial support came from the "We Make Camden Kit" initiative, a partnership involving Camden Citizens, Camden Council, Camden Giving, and local businesses, contributing £2,000 to fund the event. This initiative aims to support projects that enhance the Camden community. Looking ahead, further cup competitions have been scheduled for the Easter school holidays and May, promising more opportunities for youth footballers to shine.
