Residents in west London are set to gain a crucial new transport link to the capital's nightlife, as Transport for London (TfL) prepares to launch the N118 night bus route this coming Saturday, January 17, 2026.
Route Details and Timetable
The new service will run seven nights a week between Trafalgar Square and Ruislip Station Approach, providing a direct link for communities in Sudbury Hill, Northolt, and Ruislip. The bus will follow the path of the existing N18 to Sudbury & Harrow Road station, then continue via Harrow Road, Greenford Road, and through to Ruislip, serving key stations including Sudbury Hill Harrow, South Ruislip, and Ruislip Manor.
Frequency will vary to match demand: every 30 minutes from Sunday to Thursday nights, increasing to every 15 minutes on Friday and Saturday nights. Combined with the N18, this will mean buses running between Trafalgar Square and Sudbury & Harrow Road as often as every seven to eight minutes on weekend nights.
Boosting the Night-Time Economy
The introduction is a significant win for Westminster Council, which has been actively lobbying TfL to restore and enhance night bus services. The council's Westminster After Dark strategy aims to revitalise central London's evening and night-time offer while considering resident wellbeing.
Cllr Geoff Barraclough, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development, emphasised the balance the strategy seeks: "Westminster After Dark aims to balance the needs of a thriving evening and night-time offer with the wellbeing of the residents who call Westminster their home. This new strategy is our response to the obvious challenges of managing these competing demands."
A Vital Link for Workers and Revellers
The N118 is designed to provide desperately needed improved connections between London's outskirts and its central bars, clubs, and restaurants. It will offer vital access for both those working in the night-time industry and people travelling into the city for leisure, supporting the sector's growth and accessibility.
The launch marks a concrete step in improving London's night-time transport infrastructure, making the capital's world-class nightlife more reachable for thousands of residents in the west.
