A serious collision has forced the closure of a key stretch of the M1 motorway northbound, causing significant disruption for drivers heading towards Northampton.

The northbound carriageway of the M1 is currently closed between Junction 14 for Milton Keynes and Junction 15 for Northampton. The closure was implemented following a serious crash, with Northamptonshire Police and other emergency responders at the scene.
Officials from National Highways are also present, assisting with traffic management around the incident. Due to the severity of the collision, the road closure is expected to remain in force for an extended period.

A spokesperson for National Highways confirmed that the road is likely to stay closed into the night, warning motorists to expect long delays and to plan alternative journeys. Formal diversion routes have been activated to guide traffic around the closed section.
Drivers are being advised to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol. The recommended route is to exit the M1 northbound at J14, take the A509 towards Milton Keynes, then the A5 north, before rejoining the M1 at J15.
