The incident occurred on Friday, November 8, 2025, between junction 25 at Waltham Cross and junction 24 at Potters Bar. Emergency services rushed to the scene after multiple vehicles collided, bringing traffic to a complete standstill during the afternoon.
National Highways East confirmed the severity of the situation, stating: 'Traffic is currently STOPPED on the M25 anti-clockwise between J25 and J24 due to a multi-vehicle collision.' The road was temporarily closed entirely to allow an air ambulance to land and transport an injured person from the scene.

The collision resulted in substantial delays building throughout the afternoon. Motorists faced four-mile queues on the approach to the incident, with journey times extended by up to 60 minutes at the peak of the disruption.
By late afternoon, three lanes had been reopened to traffic, but the outside lane remained closed due to the ongoing collision investigation. This partial closure continued to cause approximately 20-minute delays and four miles of slow-moving traffic on the approach to the affected section.
