A young man has tragically lost his life following a serious road traffic collision in South East London. The incident occurred on a residential street in Catford on Tuesday evening.
Emergency Response on Canadian Avenue
Emergency services, including officers from the Metropolitan Police, the London Ambulance Service, and a trauma team from London's Air Ambulance, were called to Canadian Avenue, Catford, at 17:54hrs on Tuesday 13 January. They responded to reports of a collision involving a motorbike.
Despite extensive efforts from multiple paramedics and the specialist medical team at the scene, the rider, a man in his 20s, could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at the location. The man's next of kin have been informed and are currently receiving support from specialist family liaison officers within the Met.
Police Investigation and Witness Appeal
The Metropolitan Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit has now launched a detailed inquiry to establish the exact circumstances that led to the fatal crash. A cordon was put in place on Canadian Road for several hours overnight as forensic officers carried out their work.
Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have captured relevant footage on a dashcam, mobile phone, or doorbell camera, to come forward immediately. This information is considered crucial to piecing together the events.
