A tragic road traffic accident in Kent has resulted in the death of a pensioner who was carried on the roof of a car for nearly a mile after being struck.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The incident occurred on the A289 Gads Hill in Gillingham, Kent, at around 12.10pm on Monday, December 29. A grey Mercedes estate hit a male pedestrian, a man in his 80s. Shockingly, the victim became lodged on the vehicle and was carried for a significant distance.
The man was later discovered on Grange Road in the Medway town, potentially almost a mile or more from the initial collision point. Emergency services attended, but the pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kent Police reported that the car was found nearby and its two occupants had fled on foot. Following an investigation, two men were charged in connection with the fatal crash.
Albert Matraxhiu, 28, of Orange Hill Road, Edgware, north London, has been charged with death by dangerous driving. Erald Paci, 29, of Five Way Court, Chatham, Kent, was charged with perverting the course of justice. The police confirmed both men are Albanian nationals.
Both defendants were scheduled to appear in court on Friday, January 2.
