Pensioner Injured in Sydenham Hit-and-Run

A pensioner in her eighties has been taken to hospital with leg injuries following a hit-and-run collision in South London this morning.

Collision on Sydenham Road

The incident occurred on Sydenham Road in Lewisham at approximately 10am on Tuesday, January 13. Police officers on patrol discovered the injured woman after the vehicle involved fled the scene.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed the details: “Police on patrol on Sydenham Road, Lewisham, discovered a pedestrian with injuries to her leg after a collision with a vehicle that failed to stop at 10.09am.”

Emergency Response and Hospitalisation

The London Ambulance Service was called at 10.04am and dispatched significant resources to the scene.

“We sent resources including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer,” a service spokesperson said. “We treated a woman at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

Medical staff have assessed the octogenarian's injuries and confirmed they are not life-threatening or life-changing.

Police Appeal for Information

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The Met Police have launched an appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Investigators are particularly keen to obtain any dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision. The police have asked the public to call 101 and quote the reference number CAD 2095/13Jan.

The search for the driver continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading to the collision on this busy South London road.
