A teenage boy has died and three others were injured after a serious crash on the outskirts of North London. The Metropolitan Police are urgently appealing for witnesses following the collision between a car and a van in Enfield.
Details of the Fatal Collision
Emergency services were called to Ferny Hill in Enfield at approximately 11.40pm on Thursday, 6 November. The incident involved a car carrying three teenage boys and a van driven by a man in his 40s.
Officers from the Met Police and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended the scene. All four individuals involved were taken to hospital for treatment.
Aftermath and Investigation
Tragically, one of the teenage boys, aged 18, succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital on Saturday, 8 November. His family are now being supported by specially-trained police officers.
A second boy sustained life-changing injuries but has since been discharged from hospital. The third teenage occupant and the van driver suffered injuries that were assessed as non-life-threatening and not life-changing.
No arrests have been made at this stage. The Serious Collision Investigation Unit has launched a full investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Constable Pauline Redmond, from the unit, stated: "This was a serious collision, which resulted in the death of an 18-year-old boy. The Met is launching an investigation in order to establish exactly what happened, and hopefully bring a measure of comfort to the victim’s family, his friends and the survivors."
She added: "As part of this, we are appealing for anyone who was in the area on the night of the incident to come forward."
