Disturbing footage has emerged showing a car involved in a fatal collision allegedly speeding at 120mph on a residential road just one day before the crash that claimed four lives.
Video Shows Reckless Driving Before Tragedy
The Instagram clip, uploaded by one of the teenagers who later died, captures the interior of a Seat Leon travelling at extreme speed. This occurred on Saturday morning, approximately 24 hours before the vehicle was involved in a devastating head-on collision with a private hire taxi in Bolton on Sunday.
The crash resulted in the deaths of three teenagers and the taxi driver. The young men in the Seat were identified as 19-year-old Muhammad Danyaal, and 18-year-olds Farhan Patel and Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar. The taxi driver was 54-year-old Masrob Ali from Blackburn.
Families Grieve and Police Investigate
Humayra Ali, the daughter of the deceased cab driver, described her father as a ‘safe driver’ and said her first thought was of how scared he must have been in his final moments. ‘It’s clear that my dad wasn’t at fault and didn’t do anything wrong,’ she told Lancs Live.
The collision also left five other people injured. In the Citroen taxi Mr Ali was driving, a 29-year-old woman sustained potentially life-threatening injuries. A 28-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man suffered serious injuries, while a 29-year-old man received minor treatment. An 18-year-old male passenger from the Seat remains in hospital with minor injuries.
Detective Inspector Andrew Page of Greater Manchester Police urged the public to be mindful of sharing the footage online. ‘Sharing such footage could constitute a criminal offence,’ he warned, noting the impact on the grieving families.
Appeal for Witnesses After 'Devastating' Incident
Chief Inspector Helen McCormick called the event a ‘devastating incident’ and praised the emergency services for their response to a ‘particularly challenging scene’.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash and are appealing for witnesses. DI Page stated: ‘Anyone who saw the vehicle driving before the collision, witnessed the incident itself, or has dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident can share it with us.’
A local resident who saw the aftermath told The Bolton News they heard the ‘loudest bang’ and saw CPR being performed. The scene was closed on Sunday evening, but the investigation remains active as authorities work to establish the full sequence of events.
