New Coach Service from North London to Stansted Airport Launches
New Coach Service from North London to Stansted Airport

Getting to Stansted Airport from north London has become significantly easier with the launch of a new coach service. Tickets for the route from Finsbury Park to the Essex airport start at just £6.32, offering a budget-friendly alternative to the train.

New Route Details

Instead of traveling to Liverpool Street or Tottenham Hale to catch the Stansted Express, north Londoners can now board a coach from Finsbury Park, Wood Green, or Enfield. The service runs every 45 minutes and takes approximately one hour and 40 minutes from Finsbury Park to the airport. Passengers are advised to allow extra time in case of heavy traffic.

While the journey is longer than the train, it is cheaper if booked in advance. Flibco offers return tickets for as little as £13, including one hand luggage and one checked bag.

Environmental and Strategic Benefits

The new connection aims to provide a greener and cheaper alternative to private car travel for passengers and airport staff. Its launch aligns with the UK government's 'Better Connected' strategy, which seeks to reduce reliance on private vehicles, ease road congestion, and lower carbon emissions.

Steve Mills, Stansted's Surface Access Strategy manager, said: 'London Stansted is the UK's number one major airport for public transport use by passengers with nearly 50 percent traveling by coach, bus, or train. These new services to and from Finsbury Park and Enfield, plus our growing and successful partnership with Flibco, will help us maintain and build on our proud track record as the airport continues to grow.'

This service is part of broader efforts to improve sustainable transport links to London's airports, which are often located outside the city. Stansted, 40 miles from London in Essex, already has good connections, but this coach service adds convenience for north London residents.
