London Tube Strikes June 2026: RMT Drivers Walk Out Over Pay

Strikes by London Underground drivers are going ahead today (Tuesday, June 2) after talks failed to resolve a dispute over the working week. The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) is carrying out two 24-hour strikes on Tuesday, June 2 and Thursday, June 4 as part of an ongoing dispute over plans to introduce a voluntary four-day week for drivers.

Current Disruption on June 2

As of this morning, there is severe disruption across the network. The Circle, District, Northern, Piccadilly, Victoria, and Waterloo & City lines are completely suspended. The Hammersmith & City line is experiencing severe delays. The Bakerloo, Central, and Metropolitan lines are running with minor delays but have significant partial suspensions on parts of their routes.

Line-by-Line Status

  • Bakerloo line: No service between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone. Minor delays on the rest of the line.
  • Central line: No service between White City and Liverpool Street. Minor delays elsewhere. Services run every 10 minutes between White City and Ealing Broadway/West Ruislip, and between Liverpool Street and Epping/Woodford via Hainault.
  • Circle line: No service on the entire line.
  • District line: No service on the entire line.
  • Hammersmith & City line: Severe delays on the entire line.
  • Metropolitan line: No service between Baker Street and Aldgate. Minor delays on the rest of the line.
  • Northern line: No service on the entire line.
  • Piccadilly line: No service on the entire line.
  • Victoria line: No service on the entire line.
  • Waterloo & City line: No service on the entire line.

What Commuters Need to Know

On both strike days, there will be limited service before 6:30am, and customers are advised to complete their journeys by 9pm. Normal service is expected on Wednesday, June 3 and Friday, June 5. Services on other Tube lines are expected to run, but disruption is likely and service levels will vary across the network.

Lucy Williamson, a spokesperson for Transport for London, said: "We apologize for the inconvenience caused by these strikes. We urge customers to check before they travel and allow extra time for their journeys."

The RMT union has stated that the strikes are a result of the failure to reach an agreement on the proposed four-day week for drivers. Talks are expected to resume after the strikes.
