London Weekend Travel Disruption: Full List of Tube and Train Closures for March 21-22 2026

Major closures will impact several busy Transport for London services this weekend, creating significant travel disruption across the capital. The affected lines include the Piccadilly, Elizabeth, and Overground lines, alongside Liverpool Street station and the Docklands Light Railway.

Despite the challenges, Londoners can still explore numerous cultural events happening across the city. These include David Hockney's new free exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery, film screenings at BFI Flare, London Eid Fest celebrations, and the National Theatre's major new production of Summerfolk.

Planned Tube and Train Closures for March 21-22 2026

Piccadilly Line: On both Saturday March 21 and Sunday March 22, there will be no train services operating between Cockfosters and Uxbridge stations. This represents a substantial closure affecting one of London's busiest underground routes.

Elizabeth Line: On Saturday March 21, no trains will run between Whitechapel and Shenfield. On Sunday March 22, services will be suspended between Ealing Broadway and Shenfield/Abbey Wood until 7:45 AM. After this time, a reduced service will operate between Paddington and Maidenhead/Heathrow, but no service will run between Paddington and Shenfield/Abbey Wood throughout the day.

Weaver Line (Overground): Both Saturday March 21 and Sunday March 22 will see no services operating between Liverpool Street and Cheshunt, Chingford, and Enfield Town stations.

Liberty Line (Overground): A complete line closure will be in effect on both Saturday March 21 and Sunday March 22, affecting all stations along this Overground route.

DLR: Cutty Sark station will remain closed until Monday March 23, requiring passengers to use alternative stations for access to this popular Greenwich area location.

District Line: Eastbound trains will not stop at Barons Court station until June. Passengers traveling eastward should continue one stop west to Hammersmith station and then return eastbound to reach their destinations.

Waterloo and City Line: This line will be closed throughout the weekend, continuing its regular weekend suspension pattern.

Liverpool Street Station Closure

Liverpool Street station will experience a complete closure on both Saturday March 21 and Sunday March 22. Replacement bus services will operate to mitigate the disruption:

  • Elizabeth line services will be replaced by buses running between Stratford and Romford, and between Newbury Park and Shenfield
  • Overground Weaver line services will be replaced by buses operating between Seven Sisters and Enfield Town/Cheshunt, and between Hackney Downs and Chingford

Travelers are advised to plan their journeys carefully, allow extra time for their trips, and consider alternative transportation options where possible. The disruption comes during what has already been a challenging month for weekend travel in London, though next week's planned tube strikes have fortunately been called off.
