A person has died after falling onto the tracks at a London Underground station on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services rushed to Loughton station on the Central line following the incident.
Emergency Response at Loughton Station
The British Transport Police (BTP) stated that officers were called to Loughton Underground station at 2.36pm on Sunday, 15 December. The call concerned reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service also attended the scene. The injured person was taken to hospital in what was described as a life-threatening condition. Sadly, they were later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The authorities have not released the age or gender of the deceased at this time.
Major Service Suspension and Investigation
In response to the emergency, Transport for London (TfL) suspended all travel on the Central line between Epping and Woodford. This allowed police and paramedics to secure the scene and conduct their initial work.
The station was closed for several hours, causing significant disruption to Sunday services on this section of the line.
