Detectives from the British Transport Police (BTP) have issued a public appeal for help to identify a man wanted in connection with an upskirting incident on the London Underground.
Incident Details on Victoria Line Train
The offence took place on a Victoria line train at approximately 5.45pm on Saturday, 13 December. As the service neared Finsbury Park station in North London, a man was seen taking inappropriate photographs of a woman.
Another passenger on the busy train alerted the victim to what was happening. Despite this, the suspect managed to leave the area and remains at large more than a month after the event.
CCTV Image and Description Released
In a bid to progress the investigation, officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they urgently wish to speak to. They believe he may hold vital information that could assist their enquiries.
The person of interest is described as a middle-aged White man with a brown moustache and beard. He was wearing a white cap, under which he appears to have little or no hair. His clothing at the time consisted of a blue top under a grey jacket with a beige collar.
Upskirting Offences and Public Appeal
Upskirting is a voyeuristic offence where perpetrators use cameras or phones to take pictures or film under a person's clothing without their consent. It became a specific criminal offence in England and Wales in 2019, and those found guilty can face a maximum prison sentence of two years.
The BTP is urging anyone who recognises the man in the image to come forward immediately. You can contact them by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference number 161 of 13 December.
Information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
