Mason Mount has been offered to AC Milan by intermediaries, but the Manchester United midfielder remains committed to the club and has no intention of leaving, according to reports. The 27-year-old, who joined United for £55 million in 2023, has been linked with a reunion with former head coach Ruben Amorim, now at AC Milan.
Intermediaries offer Mount to Milan
Reports from Italy over the weekend claimed that Mount has been offered to Milan as Amorim looks to strengthen his squad. The Portuguese coach recently took charge of the Serie A giants and has already agreed a club-record £64 million deal for striker Goncalo Ramos from PSG. Amorim previously managed Mount at United before being sacked in January.
However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the reports are wide of the mark. There has been no contact between Milan and Mount's representatives, who were surprised to read the story. The midfielder remains dedicated to the Red Devils and is fully focused on getting fit before pre-season begins.
Mount's injury struggles at United
Mount's time at Old Trafford has been plagued by injuries. Since his £55 million transfer from Chelsea, he has missed 70 games through injury, recording just seven goals and two assists in three seasons. He did enjoy his best run of form under Amorim, who praised his leadership qualities in the dressing room.
Despite his struggles, Mount is still viewed as an important first-team player by current head coach Michael Carrick, especially with Champions League football returning to Old Trafford next season. United kick off the 2026/27 season with a trip to newly-promoted Hull City on August 22.
Amorim's transfer plans at Milan
Amorim has been quick to make his mark at Milan. The club has agreed a deal for Goncalo Ramos, and Amorim was also interested in signing midfielder Manuel Ugarte from United. However, any move for Ugarte is on hold after he suffered a knee injury during Uruguay's World Cup campaign.
Mount's commitment to United means Amorim will have to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements. The Portuguese coach is expected to continue his rebuilding job at the San Siro, with further signings likely before the transfer window closes.
