Raising Cane's Takes Over Angus Steakhouse for First London Location
Raising Cane's Takes Over Angus Steakhouse in London

Raising Cane's, the popular American fast-food chain specializing in chicken fingers, is set to take over the former Angus Steakhouse location at Piccadilly Circus for its first European restaurant. The Baton Rouge-based brand will open at 21-22 Coventry Street, marking its debut in London and Europe.

From Louisiana to London

Founded in 1996 by Todd Graves, Raising Cane's has grown to over 900 locations across the United States. The chain is named after Graves' Labrador retriever, Cane. The new London outpost will be the first of several planned openings in the UK, including additional London diners and drive-thru restaurants in Greater London later this year.

Menu and Signature Items

The menu features Crispy Chicken Fingers served with the chain's house mayo-based dipping sauce, Cane's Sauce. Sides include buttered and griddled toast, coleslaw, and crinkle-cut fries. The restaurant will offer the full Raising Cane's experience, including combo meals and the 'Cane's Feast' for larger appetites.

Founder's Vision

Raising Cane's founder Todd Graves said: 'We receive more requests to come to the UK than anywhere else in the world, so I started looking at real estate with the team a few years ago and began identifying top locations to open Raising Cane's across London and the UK.' He added that the chain is also scouting sites on the Strand, Oxford Circus, Paddington, and South Bank.

Angus Steakhouse's Decline

The former Angus Steakhouse at Piccadilly Circus closed in 2021. Earlier this year, another central London Angus Steakhouse location shut down, leaving only three remaining branches in Leicester Square, Paddington, and one other. The chain was once a ubiquitous presence in London's West End but has dwindled in recent years.

Raising Cane's entry into the UK market marks a significant expansion for the brand, which has been eyeing international growth. The London opening is expected to attract both locals and tourists seeking American-style fried chicken.
