Nicola Wright, a 44-year-old mother of four, has been identified as the victim of a fatal plane crash near Dunkeswell Airfield in Devon on Friday. The light aircraft went down in front of horrified onlookers at around 10am on June 26, 2026.
Victim was experienced pilot and adventurer
Wright worked as an HR director for Medisave, a company that supplies vital medical equipment across the UK. Friends and family paid tribute to her as 'clever and adventurous'. She was an experienced aerobatic pilot, skydiver, and mountain climber, and had completed her first cross-country flight last year, according to her social media.
Police and investigators at scene
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they are working with the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) to determine the cause of the crash. Superintendent Jo Arundale said: 'We will be working closely with The Air Accident Investigation Branch to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash this morning. We recognise it is a very sad incident and we are appealing to the public not to speculate regarding the crash. Furthermore, we would like to ask anybody who may have relevant footage to get in touch with us and not to post it online. Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the person involved.'
The incident remains ongoing, and police have urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation continues.
