Paraglider dangling 60m after parachute caught on crane

A paraglider was left dangling nearly 60 metres in the air after their parachute became entangled on a construction tower crane in southwest China. The incident occurred in Nanchong, a city in Sichuan province, when the strings of the parachute caught on the crane during a descent.

A viral video on the Chinese social media platform Weibo shows a person swinging from their parachute beside a bridge. The event took place along the banks of the Jialing River on Banzeng Street in Shunqing District, according to officials who spoke with local newspaper Dafeng News.

The duration of the paraglider's predicament remains unclear, as footage captured both daytime and nighttime scenes of the person dangling. A witness told Beijing News that the paraglider was stranded for at least an hour, though some outlets report the rescue operation lasted several hours.

Rescue Operation

A video recorded by a Weibo user shows firefighters using an aerial ladder to attempt a rescue in the evening. The woman filming can be heard remarking that 'many, many people' were involved. 'It shook a little,' she added, as the paraglider swayed in the wind.

The person was rescued later that evening after firefighters coordinated with tower crane workers. The Shunqing District Fire Brigade in Nanchong City confirmed that the paraglider suffered no injuries.
