Pirate Party Boat Sinks Off Turkey, Tourists Jump Into Sea

A pirate-themed party boat carrying 148 people sank in the Mediterranean off the coast of Turkey, forcing holidaymakers to jump into the sea. The vessel, named Big Boss Diamond, encountered trouble while taking tourists on a day cruise along the Marmaris coast.

Incident Details

The boat, complete with decorative masts, had left the resort town of Marmaris for a day trip to Paradise Island on Friday. However, the tour came to a sudden halt in Akvaryum Bay when the vessel began taking in water and tilting. An alarm was raised, and passengers and crew jumped into the crystal blue water as rescue boats were called.

Among those on board were British tourists and approximately 20 children. The ship is reported to have sunk quickly, going completely under in about an hour. Footage showed only the masts protruding from the water, with debris floating on the surface.
