Fernandes tells West Ham he wants Man United move

Mateus Fernandes has told West Ham that he wants to join Manchester United this summer, according to reports. The 21-year-old is set to leave West Ham this summer following the club's relegation from the Premier League last season.

Fernandes is not short of options with United competing to sign the midfielder alongside Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. However, The Mirror reports that Fernandes has 'let it be known' during discussions with West Ham's hierarchy that he wants to join United this summer.

The report adds that United are confident that they can agree personal terms with Fernandes, who wants to play Champions League football next season. However, United are not prepared to match West Ham's £80 million asking price and are expected to submit a lower offer this week.

United will need to be wary as Real Madrid have also made an approach to Fernandes over a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. Jose Mourinho, who returned as head coach after Florentino Perez was re-elected as Madrid president earlier this month, has made Fernandes one of his midfield targets.

Paris Saint-Germain have also made an enquiry to West Ham over a double deal which involves Fernandes and their Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville. Arsenal, meanwhile, have an interest in signing Fernandes but are also unwilling to meet West Ham's £80m valuation and are reluctant to enter a bidding war with United.
