Dishoom Plans New London Bridge Restaurant Near Borough Market
Dishoom Plans New London Bridge Restaurant

The beloved Indian restaurant chain Dishoom is set to bring its celebrated flavours to a new corner of the capital, with plans submitted for a significant new venue in London Bridge.

A New Culinary Destination South of the River

According to reports from Hot Dinners, the restaurant group has formally submitted a planning application to Southwark Council to open a new outpost at the Hop Exchange building. The proposed location is strategically placed just around the corner from the iconic Borough Market, positioning it to become a major new dining destination in the area.

The ambitious plans detail the creation of a brand-new, two-floor space within the building's West Wing. The design is also set to include a covered ‘verandah’, offering a unique dining atmosphere. This move follows the successful launch of Dishoom's all-day café and hotel, The Permit Room, in Notting Hill in August 2025.

From Bombay to London: The Dishoom Story

Inspired by the classic Irani cafés of mid-20th century Bombay, Dishoom first opened its doors in Covent Garden in 2010. It has since evolved from a single restaurant into a London institution, renowned for dishes like the Chicken Ruby, Black Daal, and Bacon Naan Roll.

The chain has expanded significantly across the UK, with eight locations in London alone, including Canary Wharf, Battersea, and Shoreditch. It also has restaurants in Edinburgh, Birmingham, and Brighton, and has recently announced an international expansion with a site planned for New York City.

What Happens Next?

While an official announcement from Dishoom regarding the London Bridge restaurant is still pending, speculation suggests that if planning permission is granted, the new venue could open its doors by late 2026.

This potential opening would further cement Dishoom's presence in the capital and bring its unique blend of heritage and flavour to one of London's most vibrant and well-connected areas. We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
