Copains Bakery Opens First London Gluten-Free Shop in Covent Garden
French gluten-free bakery opens first London shop

French Bakery Brings Gluten-Free Revolution to London

A beloved Parisian bakery is set to open its first London outpost, bringing a taste of France with a healthy twist to the heart of the capital. Copains, which translates to 'friends' from French, will launch on Neal Street in Covent Garden on Tuesday, November 25.

The bakery is the brainchild of two friends, Giovanni and Baptiste, who have combined their passion for delicious baked goods with a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. In a significant departure from traditional French patisserie, the duo uses alternative flours instead of traditional wheat, making 100 per cent of their food gluten-free.

More Than Just a Bakery: A Lifestyle Destination

This innovative approach means the bakery fully caters to customers with celiac disease and gluten intolerance. The menu also features lactose-free alternatives, with many items being completely vegan. Whether customers are seeking artisan breads, delicate cakes, buttery pastries, or specialty drinks, Copains promises an inclusive experience for all dietary needs.

Beyond the edible offerings, the London shop will also stock a range of clothing and accessories, positioning itself as a lifestyle brand as much as a food destination.

Ambitious Expansion Plans Beyond Paris

The Covent Garden opening is just the beginning of the brand's British invasion. The successful chain, which already boasts 18 branches across France, has confirmed plans to open a second London location on Upper Street in Islington. Furthermore, proposals are in place to launch two new venues in Brussels, Belgium.

While the London shop is yet to be reviewed, the bakery's French locations have garnered glowing feedback. One American visitor exclaimed, "So wonderful I went twice!!... I had pastries and a baguette. Not only was it delicious but the staff... was very educated and also had opinions of their favourites. A must!"

Another satisfied customer highlighted the appeal for those with specific dietary requirements, raving, "Really high quality food with lots of vegan options too. My coeliac sister was thrilled!" This enthusiastic response from international visitors suggests the London branches are poised for a warm welcome.
