Benefit Dream Sheen Brow Glaze vs 24-Hour Brow Setter: Which Wins?
Benefit Dream Sheen Brow Glaze vs 24-Hour Brow Setter

When it comes to my brows, I’m very protective of them. We’ve been on a journey together through the years of overplucking and self-shaping them to resemble something like an upside-down tick. However, we got through it, and now they’re looking their best, always landing me numerous compliments, and that’s all down to my go-to product, Benefit’s 24-Hour Brow Setter. This wonderful gel creates the illusion of lamination, with the hairs set at an angle to give a fuller appearance for a constant hold throughout the day.

So, when Benefit announced they’re bringing out a new brow product to rival my beloved, I was very sceptical about whether it could beat the 24-Hour Brow Setter, and spoiler alert: it’s exceeded my expectations. Let me introduce you to the Dream Sheen Brow Glaze that retails for £26, and is said to not only secure the hairs in place, but also add a natural tint to amplify the fullness and give them a glossy edge. It is available in three shades: light, medium and dark brow glaze, so no matter your hair colour, you’ll be able to try one that suits you. I opted for medium as usually I like a slight tint, but nothing overwhelming; I like to keep it neutral.

When first opening the product, the dual-brush was very pleasing to discover, as one side was flat, where the tint was sitting, and then the other was a comb. I went straight in and started applying the product, and I was very pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the glaze liquid applied. The tint isn’t overwhelming; it’s more of a sheer coverage with a slight tint, so if you want that natural look, it’s great. The product is infused with quinoa peptides to help achieve the gloss look, whilst the Provitamin B5 conditions, preventing them from drying. These help create a more luxe and rich application.

I did find that the brush and spatula held a lot of the formula, so I gave it a little wipe on the edge of the bottle to remove some. I always tend to do this as it allows you to build up your desired look a lot easier, rather than smothering it with the solution. The Dream Sheen Brow Glaze feels quite wet when you first put it on, which I was slightly worried about, and as soon as you wipe it, some hairs tend to fall back down. However, it feels very lightweight and non-sticky, which is nice for a gel/wax. If you find your hairs are falling back to their natural position, you can either fan them or wait a few seconds for them to turn slightly tacky, making it much easier to then place the hairs how you want them.

Tips for Application

My top tip when applying products like these is to brush the hairs in the opposite direction and even downwards so each hair is fully covered in the formula, fan to dry slightly, and then use the comb to brush upwards for maximum hold. I put it to the test by wearing it for a full day, getting on public transport, walking around London, and upon returning home, they were still firmly in place with no product fallout or movement whatsoever.

Final Verdict

Overall, I’m really impressed with the Dream Sheen Brow Glaze. It’s simple to apply and creates a polished look in seconds, taking out the need to use two separate items to tint, fill, and place. You don’t need a lot of it, so despite its £26 price tag, it will last you a long while, maximising the cost-per-wear. Adding another to my basket immediately.
