Where to See London's Christmas Lights This Week
From community street parties to events hosted by civic leaders, this week offers a diverse array of festive experiences. Here is your essential guide to the magical switch-ons happening across central London.
1. Marylebone Village
The "Merry Marylebone" celebration returns, transforming the area into a vibrant community street party. The event will feature live music, charity raffles, and numerous local traders, creating a perfect atmosphere for families, friends, tourists, and solo visitors.
The Christmas lights in Marylebone Village will be officially switched on on Wednesday, 12th November, with festivities running from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
2. Chelsea: King's Road & Duke of York Square
Chelsea is set to radiate its signature elegant glow with a host of family-friendly activities. Attendees can enjoy foodie stalls and even spot Father Christmas, who will have the honour of illuminating the streets.
The Chelsea Christmas light switch-on is scheduled for Saturday, 15th November. Father Christmas will flick the switch at 5:00 PM, officially marking the start of the season in this stylish district.
3. Belgravia
Known for its picturesque boutique fronts on Elizabeth Street and the charming village atmosphere of Motcomb Street, Belgravia promises one of the prettiest light displays in central London.
The main event in Belgravia will take place on Sunday, 16th November. The moment everyone waits for, the switch-on itself, is scheduled for 4:45 PM.
4. Leadenhall Market
Situated near Liverpool Street, Leadenhall Market's Dickensian architecture and choir-filled arcades evoke a powerful sense of nostalgia. The market will host additional craft and vintage markets throughout November and December, enhancing the festive experience.
The Christmas light switch-on at Leadenhall Market will be held on Thursday, 13th November. The official ceremony begins at 6:00 PM and will be led by a special guest: Dame Susan Langley DBE, the newly appointed 697th Lady Mayor of London.
With these events, London solidifies its status as a winter wonderland, offering residents and visitors alike countless opportunities to embrace the festive cheer.
