Jennifer Lopez's Vegas dig at Ben Affleck marriage: 'It felt like twice'
JLo's biting Vegas remark about marriage to Ben Affleck

Pop icon Jennifer Lopez has delivered a pointed remark about her short-lived marriage to actor Ben Affleck, nearly a year after their divorce was finalised. The 56-year-old superstar made the biting comment during the opening night of her new 'Up All Night' Las Vegas residency, alluding to the tumultuous nature of their two-year union.

A Telling On-Stage Quip

While addressing the audience between songs, Lopez reflected on her first Vegas residency, 'Jennifer Lopez: All I Have', which ran from January 2016 until September 2018. "It went by in a blink, didn't it, for those of you who were there on opening night ten years ago?" she asked fans. After a snap of her fingers and applause, she added, "And, you know, at that time I'd only been married twice."

The line was met with laughter from the crowd, prompting Lopez to quickly clarify with a smile, "That's not true, it was only once. It felt like twice." She then attempted to backtrack, telling the audience she was "just kidding" before asserting, "It's over, and I just – boom – we're fine. It's all good."

From 'Bennifer' to Divorce: A Timeline

The singer's relationship with the 53-year-old Affleck, famously dubbed 'Bennifer', has been a long and winding saga. They first went public in 2002, were engaged within months, but split by 2004. Both moved on to other marriages—Lopez to singer Marc Anthony, and Affleck to actress Jennifer Garner.

After rekindling their romance in 2021, they became engaged for a second time in 2022, two decades after their first proposal. The couple tied the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022. However, the reunion was short-lived. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2025, citing 'irreconcilable differences'.

Lopez has been married four times in total:

  • Ojani Noa (February 1997 to January 1998)
  • Cris Judd (2001 to January 2003)
  • Marc Anthony (2004 to 2014)
  • Ben Affleck (July 2022 to 2025)

Moving On to a 'Happy Era'

During her Vegas show, Lopez struck a more positive note about life after her high-profile splits. She told fans the "good news" was that she was "learning" and "growing" from her break-ups. "And we're in our happy era now!" she declared.

This sentiment echoes comments she made a year ago about embracing single life. "Yes, I'm not looking for anybody," she said, musing on the freedom of being on her own after decades of relationships.

For his part, Affleck has remained on amicable terms with his ex-partners. In an interview with GQ earlier this year, he described his split from Garner as "the biggest regret of my life," but praised their co-parenting relationship. Regarding Lopez, he stated there was "no scandal, soap opera or intrigue."

The opening night also saw Lopez hit back at critics of her revealing stage outfits. Laughing, she addressed comments about her style, retorting, "if you had this body you would be naked too!"
