The entertainment world is in mourning following the death of renowned make-up artist and reality television personality Jasen Kaplan, who passed away on New Year's Eve at the age of 46. The news has left his close friend and client, television personality Kelly Osbourne, 'devastated'.
Stars Pay Emotional Tributes to a Beloved Friend
Kaplan's death was confirmed by Page Six, which reported he died in a New York City hospital on 31 December 2025. The New York Police Department has stated it is investigating the circumstances, with the official cause of death pending determination by the chief medical examiner.
Upon hearing the tragic news, Kelly Osbourne shared a heartfelt series of social media posts dedicated to her friend of 25 years. 'I'm devastated. I love you so much,' she wrote alongside a photo collage. She thanked him for 'all the love, laughter, and joy' he brought to her life, adding, 'Life will never be the same without you!'
Osbourne, who lost her father Ozzy Osbourne in July 2024, shared further memories, including a video of Kaplan dressed as her, stating 'no-one was as funny' as him. She also vowed to ensure his beloved dog, Coco, would be 'always looked after'.
A Career Painting Stars: From Gastineaus to Prince Charming
Jasen Kaplan built a prestigious career over two decades, becoming a trusted confidant to a roster of A-list clients. His big break came in 2005 when he was hired to work on the E! reality series 'The Gastineau Girls' featuring socialites Brittny and Lisa Gastineau.
His client list grew to include stars such as Eva Longoria, Lynda Carter, and Cyndi Lauper. Kaplan also stepped in front of the camera, appearing in the first season of the reality dating show 'Finding Prince Charming' in 2016, hosted by Lance Bass, though he was eliminated in the second week.
Long-term friends described him to Page Six as a 'great artist, and a sweet guy', noting his rare loyalty in an industry known for flux. 'When people started working with him, they often stayed with him for years... some of his clients had been with him more than 20 years,' one said.
A 'One-of-a-Kind Gem' Remembered for His Infectious Spirit
'The Real Housewives of New York City' star Bethenny Frankel was among the other high-profile friends paying tribute. She shared that Kaplan was more than a make-up artist; he was a 'friend and a constant part of my team'.
'He had a positive energy that was truly infectious,' Frankel wrote. 'He was fun, vibrant, and always brought his A game. The world lost a one-of-a-kind gem on New Year's Eve.' She reflected on his generous nature and his unique ability to make people 'feel seen, celebrated, and better about themselves'.
Frankel concluded her emotional post by writing, 'Rest in peace and enjoy all the caviar and coconut cake.'
Tragically, Kaplan is the second star from 'Finding Prince Charming' to die within a month. In early December 2025, former contestant Chad Spodick died by suicide at the age of 42, a loss described by his family as 'sudden and heartbreaking'.
