Traitors Contestants Discover Unexpected Personal Link After Filming
In a remarkable twist following the dramatic conclusion of The Traitors series 4, two contestants have revealed they shared an unexpected connection that spanned decades without either realising during their time in the Scottish Highlands castle.
Police Past Connects Former Rivals
Retired Metropolitan Police detective Amanda Collier, 57, and PhD student Jade Scott, 26, who frequently clashed during the BBC's phenomenally successful game show, discovered through a post-filming Instagram revelation that their lives intersected long before they entered Claudia Winkleman's treacherous game.
During a recorded FaceTime call shared on social media, Amanda explained: 'Back in the 90s, way before you were born, I was a uniformed police officer at Islington Police Station. One of my favourite people to patrol with was a guy called Jonathan.'
Jade then revealed the astonishing connection: 'This Jonathan is actually my boyfriend's dad.'
From Suspicion to Friendship
The discovery came as a particular surprise given the pair's antagonistic relationship during the competition. Amanda had immediately suspected Jade of being a Traitor from the moment the blindfolds came off during the initial selection process.
'I had a lot of people on my list, and Jade was at my 12 o'clock,' Amanda later told Metro. 'She just looked like the weight of the world was on her shoulders, completely opposite to me. I actually wanted to be a Traitor, and when I didn't get the hand on my shoulder, I felt like I'd won the lottery.'
Despite Amanda's early banishment following a dramatic roundtable showdown, her suspicions about Jade continued to influence other players throughout the competition, creating sustained pressure on the young Faithful.
Post-Show Reconciliation
Thankfully, the pair have reconciled since filming concluded, with Amanda reaching out to apologise for making Jade's game so difficult.
'She was one of the first people I called when filming finished,' Amanda revealed. 'I said, "I am so, so sorry," and she said, "It's fine, it's fine. It's a game." She understands; she's a gamer. I made it so hard for her. I just felt so bad.'
The connection discovery began when Jade messaged Amanda after filming ended, curious about her police background. Through a process of elimination involving locations, time periods, and eventually photographs, they uncovered their shared link to Jonathan.
'The Met Police is huge,' Amanda recalled of their conversation. 'Then you said, "North London", and I thought, "OK..." then you said, "90s", and I was like, "OK!" We just narrowed it down. You told me his name, and I still didn't believe it, so I said, "Send me a photo", you sent me a photo, and I said, "That's Johnny!"'
Viewer Reactions and Series Aftermath
Traitors fans flooded the comments section of their Instagram revelation with astonishment. One viewer wrote: 'Wow what a small world!!' while another added: 'This whole time you could have been allies.'
The fourth series concluded with an epic finale that attracted a staggering 9.4 million viewers, seeing Traitors Rachel and Stephen split a prize pot of £97,750 after successfully scheming their way to the final. Jade made it close to the prize but didn't break into the final four, while Amanda was controversially eliminated earlier in the competition.
Despite their competitive clashes and Amanda's persistent suspicions, the two women have maintained their friendship beyond the cameras, bonded by their unexpected personal connection and mutual understanding of the game's psychological demands.
The revelation adds another layer to a series already packed with surprising connections, including Ellie's confession that Ross was her boyfriend and Claudia's shocking announcement about Roxy's mother Judy adopting her at age six.
