McDonald’s is bringing back a nostalgic McFlurry flavour that has been absent from the menu for nearly two decades. The Cornetto McFlurry, inspired by the classic ice cream treat, will return as part of the summer menu starting July 14.
Two Classic Flavours Make a Comeback
According to reports, the revival includes not one but two beloved varieties. The strawberry Cornetto McFlurry features strawberry sauce and crispy wafer chunks, while the chocolate version combines chocolate chunks, chocolate sauce, and crispy wafer pieces. Fans have taken to social media to express their excitement, with comments like 'My god I hope this is true! They’re back' and 'Can you believe it’s been 17 years?' Another eager fan wrote on Facebook: 'Now we’re talking.'
Original Discontinuation and Limited-Time Return
The McFlurry flavours were originally discontinued in 2009 after a seasonal promotion. Now, they are returning for a limited time once again, joining a lineup of new and returning menu items in June. These include crunchy cheese bites filled with Gouda and mozzarella, the returning Galaxy salted caramel McFlurry, a Vanilla Matcha Frappe launched on June 2, and the sweet Carolina BBQ stack burger introduced on June 9 for the World Cup. Additionally, the Mexican chipotle chicken burger, a crispy chicken burger with smoky sauce and chipotle mayo, features a bun shaped like a football.
Other Menu Changes Spark Debate
Not all changes have been well-received. The popular Wrap of the Day promotion, which ran for 15 years, has been renamed 'Wrap in the App,' requiring customers to use the McDonald’s app to access the deal. The offer is now limited to once per day, redeemable only between 11am and 11pm, a change that has upset some loyal customers.
