Guardian Weekly Print Subscription: Key Terms, Delivery & Cancellation Guide
Guardian Weekly Subscription Terms & Conditions Explained

Subscribers to the Guardian Weekly's international print edition are bound by a specific set of terms and conditions that outline their rights and the publisher's obligations. Guardian News & Media Limited, the provider, emphasises that these rules work alongside statutory consumer protections which cannot be overridden.

Subscription Details and Delivery Expectations

The Guardian Weekly is published 51 times per year, typically skipping the final week of the calendar year. A subscription guarantees delivery of one copy each week to an address of your choosing, anywhere in the world. It's important to note that while copies are dispatched ahead of the Friday publication day, delivery on Friday cannot be guaranteed in every region due to postal variables.

Subscriptions are personal and non-transferable, with an exception made for gift purchases. When buying a gift, you can nominate a different recipient and address, but you remain the contracting party. The company utilises third-party services to fulfil deliveries and manage data, in line with its published Privacy Policy.

Payment, Price Guarantees and Flexible "Holidays"

Payment can be made via direct debit (for UK subscribers with a UK bank account) or Visa/Mastercard credit/debit cards. International transactions may incur bank fees for currency conversion. For those on rolling monthly, quarterly, or annual payments, a price guarantee ensures no increase within the first year (51 issues) of a standard subscription, excluding promotional rates.

A notable benefit for personal subscribers is the allowance for a subscription "holiday" of up to six weeks per subscription year. This requires a minimum of two weeks' notice, and the missed issues are credited to the next payment. This facility is not available for gift subscriptions.

Cancellation Rights and Refund Policy

Subscribers have the right to cancel their subscription at any time. Cancellation can be effected by post, phone, email, or through an online 'Manage My Account' portal. Upon cancellation, no further issues will be sent.

For rolling subscriptions, payments will cease and a refund will be issued for any paid-for issues not yet delivered within the current billing period. For advance single-payment subscriptions, a refund will be provided for undelivered issues. Refunds are processed to the original payment method in the same currency.

Customer Service and Legal Jurisdiction

Queries or complaints should be directed to regional customer service teams. For the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world, contact can be made via phone at +44 (0)330 333 6767 or email at customer.help@guardian.com.

The terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, with the parties submitting to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. An exception exists for subscribers in Australia, where the laws of New South Wales apply. The publisher reserves the right to update the terms, providing at least 30 days' notice of changes.
