Rod Stewart uses oxygen tank onstage after nearly fainting

Sir Rod Stewart, 81, was forced to pause a concert to use an oxygen tank after nearly fainting onstage. The incident occurred at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City, Utah, on Friday night, with video footage shared by TMZ showing the singer leaning on a piano and grabbing set pieces for support during the song Young Turks.

Staff intervenes with oxygen

Staff brought out an oxygen tank after Stewart gestured to the side of the stage. He continued singing through the song before a three-person team administered oxygen, talking him through it and steadying him as he became unsteady on his feet. Stewart later told the crowd he had 'nearly f**king fainted' but insisted 'the show must go on.'

Show continues with modifications

After making a few jokes, Stewart asked the audience if they would 'mind' if he performed his next hit while sitting on steps on the stage. He finished the show sitting in a chair. The singer, known for hits like Maggie May and Hot Legs, had previously cancelled several concerts due to health issues.

Recent health cancellations

Stewart cancelled his May 29 and 30 residency gigs at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas at the last minute after a vocal rest order from doctors. In a statement, he said: 'My apologies to my family of fans. I am on vocal rest as I recover from a sinus infection. I look forward to seeing you at a future show at Caesars Palace or on tour this summer.' On June 12, he cancelled a show in California just hours before it was due to start after contracting laryngitis.
