British Transport Police are urgently hunting for a man after a woman was sexually assaulted on a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) train in London. The attacker allegedly grabbed the victim and refused to let her go until two other passengers intervened.

Incident details

The assault occurred on May 29 at approximately 10:30 pm. The victim was standing on the platform at Canary Wharf station when a man approached her and began to sexually harass her. He then boarded the same train and sat next to her. When she tried to move away, he grabbed her and sexually assaulted her, refusing to release her.

Passengers intervene

The man only stopped when two other passengers stepped in to help the woman. He then got off the train at King George V station. Police have released an image of a man they believe may have information about the incident.

Police appeal

Detectives investigating the sexual assault have urged anyone with information to come forward. The British Transport Police stated: 'Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board a DLR train have released this image in connection... At around 10.30pm on Friday 29 May, a woman was on the platform at Canary Wharf when a man approached and began to sexually harass her. He then boarded the train and sat next to her, and as she tried to move away he grabbed onto her and sexually assaulted her, refusing to let her go. The man only stopped when two other passengers came over to help, and he eventually got off the train at King George V station. Detectives would like to speak to the man pictured, as they believed he may have information that could help their investigation.'
