Taylor Swift's former teacher and security guard, Kirk Schwabe, died on Friday at the age of 69, the same day Swift married Travis Kelce. Schwabe had been battling metastatic kidney cancer, according to his daughter Sarah Gordon.
Teacher's health declined rapidly
Gordon revealed on social media Thursday that her father had been moved to hospice care after his health 'declined rapidly.' She shared a photo of Swift with Schwabe holding a framed record plaque of Swift's 2006 album Taylor Swift. 'If you know my dad, you know he has poured his heart into everything he's done. He has always loved teaching. He loves his students,' Gordon wrote.
From police officer to educator
Schwabe, a former Chicago police officer, became a criminal justice educator at Hendersonville High School in Nashville, where he taught Swift from 2004 to 2006 during her mid-teens. He later worked as her security guard.
Schwabe's belief in Swift and Kelce
Before his death, Schwabe expressed that he believed Swift had found the right partner in Kelce. 'He always spoke highly of Travis and thought they were a perfect match,' a family friend said.
