Four Men Arrested Following Fatal Stabbing Outside Peckham Nightclub

A 26-year-old man who was stabbed to death outside a nightclub in Peckham during the early hours of Easter Monday has been formally identified by police as Aurelio Mejia. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the violent incident, which occurred near the LAXA Lounge on Ruby Street.

Violent Altercation Leaves One Dead and Two Critically Injured

The tragic event unfolded at approximately 3:50 a.m. on Monday, April 6, when emergency services were called to Ruby Street following reports of a group fight. Aurelio Mejia was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining fatal stab wounds. Two other men, both in their twenties, were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remain in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.

Police have taken four individuals into custody: one 18-year-old and three 24-year-olds. All four remain detained while detectives conduct further enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the violent altercation.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the Metropolitan Police investigation, issued a statement expressing condolences to the victim's family. "This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this difficult time," he stated. "We have already arrested four men and our investigation continues at pace."

DCI John acknowledged the concern this violent crime would generate within the local community and confirmed there would be an increased police presence throughout the area. "This assault occurred outside a busy nightclub, and we’d encourage anyone who has any information, dashcam or mobile phone footage which could support the investigation to contact us," he urged.
