EasyJet Cabin Crew Member and Partner Appear in Court Over Fatal Bedfordshire Collision
An easyJet cabin crew member and her partner have appeared in court following a devastating crash in Bedfordshire that claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy and left two other teenagers with serious injuries. The tragic incident occurred on Greenfield Road in Flitwick on Friday night, leading to multiple charges against the defendants.
Court Proceedings and Charges
Jamie Fountain, 24, and Ellie Ireland, 23, appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 6, facing a series of serious charges. Fountain, a groundworker from Fir Tree Close in Flitwick, was driving a BMW at the time of the collision, while Ireland was a passenger in the vehicle.
Fountain has been charged with:
- Causing death by careless driving
- Causing death by careless driving while over the legal limit for alcohol and drugs
- Two counts of causing serious injury by careless driving
- Failing to stop at the scene of an accident
- Failing to report an accident
- Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice
Ireland, who resides on Wingate Drive in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, and works as an easyJet cabin crew member, faces a single charge of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. The court did not specify which airport she operates from.
Victim Remembered as 'Bright and Athletic'
The victim, Noah Campbell, has been described by his grieving family as a "fun, bright, handsome, athletic and incredibly well-liked boy." In a heartfelt tribute issued through Bedfordshire Police, his family expressed their profound devastation.
"Above all else, he cherished spending time with his friends and family; they were the heart of his world," the family stated. "We are utterly devastated; Noah's death has left a hole in our lives that will remain forever."
Ongoing Investigation and Injuries
Police confirmed that the collision involved a car, a bike, and a scooter. In addition to Noah Campbell's tragic death, two other teenage boys were transported to hospital with serious injuries. As of Sunday, one of these boys remains hospitalized in serious condition, highlighting the severity of the incident.
Family members of both the victim and the defendants were present in court during the proceedings, underscoring the emotional weight of the case.
Legal Proceedings Continue
Both Fountain and Ireland have been remanded in custody following their initial court appearance. They are scheduled to appear next at Luton Crown Court on the morning of May 5, where the legal process will continue to unfold.
