A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a woman's body at a tower block in Manchester. Amber O'Brien, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene on Broadmoss Drive, Blackley, at approximately 6pm on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Neighbours reported seeing armed police storming the building as part of the emergency response.
Arrest and Charges
Stephan Garner, 31, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) later charged him with murder. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. A GMP statement confirmed: 'Stephan Garner, of Blackley, has been charged with murder following the death of a woman at the weekend. Following Ms O'Brien's death, heartfelt tributes have been shared on social media by friends and loved ones. One tribute read: 'A beautiful woman gone far too soon. A smile that could light up any room, a laugh so loud it made you laugh. A gorgeous girl, a beautiful soul. You will be sorely missed.' Another tribute added: 'What a beautiful girl inside and out, you was always the best person towards anyone and everyone no matter what.'
