William's kids call him 'best papa' on birthday and Father's Day

Prince William's wife and children have paid tribute to him as 'the best papa in the world' to mark both Father's Day and his 44th birthday. Kensington Palace shared a picture of the Prince of Wales with his daughter, Princess Charlotte, accompanied by a message from Kate Middleton, Prince George, Charlotte and Prince Louis. The touching post was captioned with the message: 'Happy birthday and Father's Day to the best Papa in the World! We love you very much. C, G, C & L,' followed by two pink heart emojis.

King Charles pays tribute to Prince Philip

King Charles also shared a tribute to his own father, the late Prince Philip. A post read: 'Celebrating all Fathers, and thinking of those who wish they could be with their Dads, today.' It was accompanied by a picture of Charles and Philip both wearing military uniform and was taken following the completion of Charles' RAF training in Lincolnshire in 1971.

Recent royal engagements

The pictures were shared just over a week after the Waleses reunited with the King at Trooping the Colour last Saturday. William wore his red Welsh Guards uniform, while Charlotte wore a traditional cream dress for the occasion. Meanwhile, Princess Kate wore a baby blue Catherine Walker coat dress, drawing comparisons with an outfit famously worn by Princess Diana in 1987, and heels which matched her daughter's. Prince George and Prince Louis twinned in dark suits with matching baby blue ties.

Earlier this week, the Prince was joined by the Princess of Wales at Royal Ascot. It was the first time Catherine had attended the event since announcing her cancer diagnosis in 2024. The couple also made a joint appearance at Monday's Garter Day celebrations at Windsor Castle.

Prince George to attend Eton College

The birthday wishes come after the couple announced George would be attending the prestigious – and expensive – Eton College come September, following in his dad's footsteps. The prince, 12, will finish his final term at Lambrook School in Berkshire – also attended by his sister Charlotte and brother Louis – in July. The Waleses said earlier this week: 'Kensington Palace can confirm that Prince George will attend Eton College from this September.'
