Trump's Face to Appear on Commemorative US Passports for 250th Birthday
Trump's Face on Commemorative US Passports

The US State Department has announced a limited release of commemorative passports celebrating America's 250th birthday, featuring a portrait of President Donald Trump. Between 25,000 and 30,000 of these special passports will be available to applicants at the Washington DC passport office shortly before July 4.

First Living President on Passport

Trump will be the first living president to appear on a US passport. The document will include his picture, his signature in gold on an interior page, and a redesigned cover with bold gold lettering. The standard cover layout is reversed, with 'United States of America' at the top and 'Passport' at the bottom. A small gold laminate American flag with the number 250 encircled by stars will adorn the back cover.

Limited Availability

The commemorative passport will be the default document for in-person applicants at the Washington DC office. Those who prefer a standard passport can apply online or outside the district. State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott stated, 'These passports will feature customized artwork and enhanced imagery while maintaining the same security features that make the US passport the most secure document in the world.'

Historical Context

Current US passports feature a double-page depiction of Mount Rushmore, including presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Other imagery includes the Statue of Liberty, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and various natural landscapes. Quotations from Martin Luther King Jr. and several presidents are also included.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to increase Trump's visibility ahead of the semiquincentennial. His name has already been added to the US Institute of Peace building and the Kennedy Center. Additionally, there are plans to put Trump's signature on new US dollar bills and feature his image on a gold commemorative coin.
