A murder shock has unfolded in Emmerdale as Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) has been killed. The character, who hasn't been seen in weeks due to working at a new job in Sheffield, was found lying in a pool of blood at the end of the episode dated July 1, which can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube before its ITV1 broadcast.
Mackenzie Boyd confronts Doctor Todd
Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) decided to speak to Caitlin about her raping Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) after receiving advice from Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill). Kev told Mack to get quiet revenge, leading Mack to slip out of the village and travel to Sheffield without anyone knowing.
When Mackenzie confronted Doctor Todd, she denied all claims, insisting the sex was consensual and calling Charity a liar. Caitlin then revealed that baby Leyla is Charity and Ross Barton's (Michael Parr) child, attempting to fuel her character assassination of Charity. However, Mack already knew this truth, having discovered it days earlier.
Anger and confrontation
Mack's anger grew during the confrontation, prompting Doctor Todd to call security. Mack left without trouble and was later seen sitting on stairs, listening to a voicenote from Charity. Doctor Todd found him and removed her mask, stating she believes she won't be convicted because she is a well-respected NHS member.
The police investigation into Charity's allegation may soon end, as a haunting moment aired at the end of the episode showed Doctor Todd lying on the floor in a pool of blood. With Caroline Harker set to depart her role, it appears someone has killed the surgeon.
Whodunnit?
The murder has sparked a whodunnit mystery, with viewers left to speculate on the killer's identity. The episode sets the stage for upcoming twists in the storyline.
