Olivia Jean, the wife of White Stripes frontman Jack White, has filed for divorce after four years of marriage, alleging that the 50-year-old musician is guilty of 'inappropriate marital conduct.' According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Jean, 36, stated in her petition filed on June 3 that she no longer feels safe living with the 'Seven Nation Army' singer.
Divorce Filing Details
The filing reads: 'Wife would show that Husband is guilty of inappropriate marital conduct, which makes further cohabitation unsafe and improper.' Jean also indicated in the documents that she is financially dependent on White for household expenses and requested to remain a beneficiary on his life insurance policy despite the dissolution of their marriage.
Whirlwind On-Stage Wedding
The couple married in April 2022 during White's concert at Detroit's Masonic Temple. After performing the White Stripes hit 'Hotel Yorba' together, White dropped to one knee and proposed, followed by a minister joining them on stage to officiate the ceremony. Despite the seemingly spontaneous nature of the wedding, the pair had known each other since 2009, when Jean signed to White's Third Man Records. She previously fronted the band The Black Belles before launching a solo career under the label. Their relationship remained platonic for years while White was married to his second wife, Karen Elson, with whom he shares two children.
Jack White's Marital History
White was previously married to White Stripes bandmate Meg White from 1996 to 2000. During the band's early years, they publicly claimed to be siblings, a narrative they maintained even after their divorce and throughout the band's career. Meg White has largely stayed out of the public eye since the White Stripes disbanded in 2011. A friend told Elle magazine: 'Meg really doesn't think she feels up for any interviews. She never liked them.' White has consistently praised Meg, but hopes for a White Stripes reunion have faded.
