A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder his teacher with a kitchen knife at a Welsh school. The teenager, who was 15 at the time of the alleged attack, is said to have stabbed Vicky Williams in the head at Milford Haven Comprehensive School in Pembrokeshire.
Prosecution details 'murderous attack'
Christopher Rees KC, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that the defendant planned and launched a 'murderous attack' on February 5. The boy allegedly brought the blade into school hidden in his bag and followed Ms Williams into an empty classroom on a Wednesday afternoon.
According to The Pembrokeshire Herald, a struggle ensued, with the boy allegedly pushing the teacher into a chair as she tried to grab the knife. Ms Williams suffered a stab wound to the head, defensive injuries to her hands, scratches, and small cuts. She screamed for help, and the teen fled the scene.
School lockdown and hospital treatment
Emergency services descended on the school, which was placed in lockdown. Ms Williams was taken to hospital but discharged the same evening. The boy, now 16 and legally unnamed, has denied attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, and unlawful wounding. He admitted possessing a blade.
Community impact and school response
Milford Haven School described the incident as 'distressing' and 'unsettling' for the community. In a statement, the school said: 'Following the very distressing incident that took place in school last week, we want to take a moment to acknowledge how unsettling this has been for our whole community. Our priority now is to support pupils, staff and families as we move forward together.'
The school reassured that it remains a safe and caring environment, praising the brave, calm, and mature response of pupils and staff. The three-week trial continues.
