Detectives from the Metropolitan Police have taken the extraordinary step of offering a £20,000 reward for information leading to the identification and conviction of two suspects wanted in connection with a terrifying shooting in Lewisham that left a young man fighting for his life.
Brutal Attack in Broad Daylight
The shocking incident occurred on Thursday, December 14th, 2023, at approximately 15:40 GMT on Laleham Road in the SE6 postcode area. According to police reports, a 22-year-old man was ambushed by two individuals who opened fire before fleeing the scene on an electric bike.
The victim sustained critical gunshot wounds and was rushed to a major trauma centre where he remained in a life-threatening condition for several days. While he has since been discharged from hospital, authorities confirm he continues to suffer from life-changing injuries.
Major Investigation Underway
Detective Sergeant Tariq Farooq, leading the investigation from the Met's Specialist Crime Command, stated: "This was a brazen attack in a residential area that could easily have resulted in a murder investigation. We believe there are people in the community who know who is responsible and we're urging them to come forward.
"The substantial reward reflects the seriousness of this offence and our determination to bring those responsible to justice."
Suspect Description Released
Investigators have released descriptions of the two individuals they urgently wish to trace:
- The first suspect is described as a tall, slim-built black male wearing a black puffer-style coat with the hood up, black trousers, and black trainers
- The second suspect is described as a black male of shorter stature, wearing a black gilet, grey tracksuit bottoms, and black trainers with white soles
Both individuals were seen making their escape from Laleham Road toward Burnt Ash Road on a black electric bike, possibly a Sur-Ron model.
