Police are investigating whether a drive-by shooting that left four people injured in Brixton could be linked to a stabbing that occurred an hour later in the same area.
Incident Details
On Saturday, May 2, at approximately 1:14 am, officers were called to Coldharbour Lane, where they found four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. A 25-year-old man remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition, while the other three victims are in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
About an hour later, police were summoned to Acre Lane, a short distance from the shooting scene, where a 33-year-old man was discovered with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital and remains in a life-threatening condition. No arrests have been made in connection with either incident.
Possible Connection
Detectives are now exploring whether the two events are linked. The shooting is believed to have occurred on a grassy area where a barbecue was taking place. Witnesses reported that shots were fired from a vehicle, striking the four victims.
Moh John, 45, a worker at the Payless Food & Wine supermarket near the Southwyck House estate, described the scene: "I was putting something away when I heard the noises. It was busy; there was a party. I saw people running away. Some tried to come into the shop, and I locked the door."
Police Appeal
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, leading the investigation, stated: "We understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible. This was an act of indiscriminate violence, and we will work relentlessly to bring the suspects to justice. It is vital that anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation comes forward."
Authorities urge anyone with information or footage to contact the police or Crimestoppers, quoting reference CAD 557/2May for the Coldharbour Lane shooting and CAD 907/2May for the Acre Lane stabbing.
