Welsh Couple Defy 24-Trillion-to-One Odds to Win £1m Lottery Twice
Couple win second £1m lottery with 24-trillion-to-one odds

A couple from Mid-Wales are celebrating an almost unimaginable stroke of luck after winning a second £1 million National Lottery prize, defying odds calculated at a staggering 24 trillion to one.

The Power of Belief and a Double Jackpot

Richard Davies, 49, and Faye Stevenson-Davies, 43, first became millionaires in June 2018 after a EuroMillions Millionaire Maker win. Their fairy tale continued in late 2025 when they matched five numbers and the bonus ball on the Lotto, securing another seven-figure sum.

The pair firmly attribute their extraordinary fortune to their mindset. Ms Stevenson-Davies explained their philosophy, stating that after their first win, they realised winners were everywhere. "We knew the odds of it happening again were outrageous, but we're proof that if you believe, anything is possible," she said.

Life After the First Win: Purpose Over Retirement

Far from opting for a life of idle luxury after their initial windfall, both partners pursued new, meaningful careers. Previously a hairdresser, Mr Davies now works full-time as a parcel courier. Ms Stevenson-Davies, a former mental health nurse, used her 2018 win to fund a second degree in counselling.

She now runs her own practice and provides vital services for charities including Brecon & District Mind and The DPJ Foundation. The couple also generously shared their first win, gifting cars and donating a minibus to their local rugby team.

The Lucky Sequence and Community Focus

The path to their second jackpot was itself a story of cascading luck. Mr Davies detailed how it unfolded over four consecutive Lotto draws in November 2025. "We matched two numbers and won a free Lucky Dip... which put us into the next draw and so on, until the winning draw on Wednesday 26 November," he recounted.

Despite their new wealth, the community-minded couple have no plans to abandon their responsibilities. This Christmas, Mr Davies will continue his seven-day-a-week courier work to ensure deliveries are met, while Ms Stevenson-Davies will be providing mental health support to clients, even on Christmas Day.

Andy Carter, senior winner's adviser at lottery operator Allwyn, highlighted the timing, noting a £15m Must Be Won Christmas Eve Lotto Draw is imminent. He suggested now is the perfect time for others to believe in some festive magic of their own.
